Are YOU sleeping correctly at night?

woman-sleepingWhat is the best sleep position?

Do you sleep on your back, side, or belly? You may have a favorite sleeping position, or you may change it up now and then. And if you become pregnant, or have certain health problems, the way you sleep can sometimes change. In those cases, getting your sleeping posture right can make a big difference in the way you feel when you wake up. Are you choosing the best sleeping position for your situation?

Back sleepers:

Place a pillow (suggested by your chiropractor) under your neck to allow your neck to restore its curve.  you also want an additional pillow under your knees to help support your lower back.

Side sleepers:

Place a pillow suggested by your chiropractor under your neck that supports it and allows it to stay straight.  Have an additional pillow between your knees to help keep your lower back and pelvis aligned.

AVOID sleeping on your stomach and here is why!

– Your neck will be twisted which causes strain on the muscles that support your neck to sit up right.

– Your lower back will sway into an increased curve increasing the tension on your lower back muscles and spine.
